Craftsmanship, innovation & a desire to 'do good': an ode to 15 marriage traditions. An eclectic clash of Dutch fashion design meets the wedding industry in a demi-couture label named tesswithlotte.
In 2019 Tess van Zalinge launches the demi-couture collection ‘fifteen’ in collaboration with wedding planner Lotte Groosman at the Fashion for Good Experience museum in Amsterdam. Inspired by fifteen wedding traditions the collection is an ode to forgotten marriage traditions. Taking fashionable heritage as a starting point to share the story of symbolism, emotion and authenticity behind a marriage. The entire collection is crafted from vintage wedding dresses and other recycled materials and leftovers from weddings.
Every outfit in the collection is an ode to one of these perhaps forgotten traditions. Including something blue, Bianca Jagger, Queen Victoria, veils, flowers, pearls and the shade white. Tess's love for craftsmanship, nature and folklore is also evident in the collection.
In a sector where the focus is on 'beauty for one day' tesswithlotte encourages the industry to make more conscious choices for the wedding day. Because 'the best day of your life' gets a whole new dimension when it is done responsibly.
